Spring Fever

I went to Barnes and Nobles today with the intent of buying a magazine. Love Magazine has finally arrived to New York. I was very excited about Love when I first heard Katie Grand was starting a new magazine. However, hardly anything in Love appeals to me, or if it does I have already read about it 100 times before. Love has nothing new or exciting to offer. Also I’m turned off by how hard Love has been pushing itself to be sold. If the magazine is good why is it necessary to throw it down everyone’s throats? So I didn’t see the point of dropping 17.99 on it today. On the good side it’s a biannual issue so it will be on the selves for months, so I’m positive that one day out of boredom I will buy it.

Luckily I didn’t leave Barnes and Nobles empty handed. Russh 26 has finally arrived! I snatched it up immediately. I didn’t even have to look at the contents to convince myself to buy it. I had bought the previous issue featuring Karlie Kloss, but I never got around to doing a post about it. Well just like the last issue, Russh 26 does not disappoint. I feel like Russh is an amazing fashion magazine, they are always young, fresh, and on trend without being too cheesy. Behati looks stunning on the cover, and the models within the issue are beautiful as well.

This weekend however I’m going to be on the look out for The Last magazine. I bought their first issue, featuring Daria Werbowy and Julia S. The second issue features an ethereal Natasha Poly on the cover. The inside contents look amazing as well. Above is a picture from the previous issue.

Vogue Italia and Vogue China

I’ve been quite disappointed with Vogue Italia lately. The magazine that used to be the edgiest in my eyes in suddenly the most boring. Ever since the August issue Vogue Italia has done nothing but put me to sleep. The model selection has been horrendous. All the girls featured are either the supers (who I see too much of) or these brand new girls (who are faceless blond clones, literally). The diversity that Vogue Italia so boldly promoted in July, is now gone in a matter of a few months. The photography is bad now too. Miesel seems to be going through a black and white film inspiration phase. So the editorials are quiet, and a few girls, and only black and white. The styling is boring, the make-up is boring, and yes even the hair is boring. Some people still rave about Vogue Italia, I on the other hand think they are blinded. People are so used to Vogue Italia being good, they cannot realize when it is bad. Looking at old Vogue Italia threads on tfs only makes me even more sad about the condition the magazine is in now.

Vogue China however, has recently lifted my spirits. I’m sure all of you have seen the Kate Moss editorial featured in the new December issue. Well the second I saw that edtorial I knew I had to buy it, and it was 20 dollars well spent. (Oh jesus I spent 20 dollars on a magazine I can’t read) Anyway, it’s their icons issue. The covers (yes that’s right, there are two covers) are stunning. The editorials are amazing, and the clothes and accessories selection are fantastic. Ths issue of Vogue China definitely gets a thumbs up from me.
Fuel Your Addiction
I am a magazine addict. I buy at least six magazines a month. Price is not an issue to me if the contents are good enough.
I consider my magazine addiction a serious problem. I shouldn’t be spending so much money on pretty pictures that I could just go and see online. However, magazines just make me happy. There’s something about holding that thick tomb of papers in your hands, and flipping through the glossy pages. It just sets my soul aflame.
Therefore you can imagine my excitement when i saw this cover of Lara Stone for i-D. It’s the God’s Gift Issue. Lara is so freaking sexy on the cover. Her eyes are amazing, and her cheek-bones are killer.
This issue is a must buy.
However I have to wait about two more weeks before I can get my hands on it. (sobs)
I actually hate this period in the middle of the month. About the 5th to the 20th of every month is horrible because no new magazines are out. By this time of the month I already have all the new issues that I want.
So then how do I fuel my addiction? I go into the archives of Vogue Paris.
Vogue Paris is just a bundle of awesomeness. It’s near perfection.
My favorite editorials of all time have to be anything with Daria Werbowy modeling, Emmanuelle Alt styling, and Inez Van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin photographing. I recently brought Vogue Paris April 2006, inside Daria has an editorial titled “Noces Blanches” It’s stunning, especially this one picture of Daria in a bunny mask. Sigh, 2006 was a good year for magazines.
Anyway I hope the wait for the November issues doesn’t kill you, like it’s killing me. Just vist The Fashion Spot, or style.com, or my blog to ease the pain.
