Exoskeleton

exoskeleton

The exoskeleton look is my new favorite trend. I’ve always been a huge fan of skulls or bones in clothing (if you couldn’t tell already), so I was happy to see this trend on the runways.

At Rodarte the look was soft, yet obviously the cutouts embodied the ribcage. At Givenchy the trend was strong and sharp in the form of leather or tight fitting tops. Exoskeleton was also seen at Alexander McQueen and at Christian Lacroix. I would to see it grow even more next season.

I’m sorry for the lack of update. Due to the holiday season, and me moving back and forth between homes, I haven’t had the time to settle down to update. I truly do appreciate all the comments I received between updates.

SomeĀ  of you suggested I post some photos of myself. I’m considering it. Maybe in the new year. I just don’t feel like my everyday style is amazing enough to post regularly. I pretty much just wear black and something with skulls everyday. We’ll see what I decide to do.

I hope everyone is having a great winter break.

Smoky Eyes

I’m really loving the smoky eye look right now. I use way too much black hard candy eye shadow and my black sephora eyeliner is way too heavy, but I love it.

I just fix my mohawk and my look for the night is perfect.

The only bad thing about so much black make-up is that it’s a bitch to take off when you’re tipsy as hell.

Skull Ring

I have wanted the perfect skull ring for a really long time now. Normally in shops you see those gaudy huge ones, or you see the tacky cutesy ones. Shopping for a good skull ring has always fraustrated me. However, finally today I found a skull ring thats perfect.

Dolce and Gabbana has been pretty bad lately. So here is a collage to remember the good old days.

For me, skulls, studs, and chains are pretty much the best accessories. Here are my favorites from my collection of chain bracelets thus far.

Vogue Italia and Vogue China

Posted in Confessions of a Magazine Addict by nycartstyle on December 6, 2008

march-20071

I’ve been quite disappointed with Vogue Italia lately. The magazine that used to be the edgiest in my eyes in suddenly the most boring. Ever since the August issue Vogue Italia has done nothing but put me to sleep. The model selection has been horrendous. All the girls featured are either the supers (who I see too much of) or these brand new girls (who are faceless blond clones, literally). The diversity that Vogue Italia so boldly promoted in July, is now gone in a matter of a few months. The photography is bad now too. Miesel seems to be going through a black and white film inspiration phase. So the editorials are quiet, and a few girls, and only black and white. The styling is boring, the make-up is boring, and yes even the hair is boring. Some people still rave about Vogue Italia, I on the other hand think they are blinded. People are so used to Vogue Italia being good, they cannot realize when it is bad. Looking at old Vogue Italia threads on tfs only makes me even more sad about the condition the magazine is in now.

Vogue China however, has recently lifted my spirits. I’m sure all of you have seen the Kate Moss editorial featured in the new December issue. Well the second I saw that edtorial I knew I had to buy it, and it was 20 dollars well spent. (Oh jesus I spent 20 dollars on a magazine I can’t read) Anyway, it’s their icons issue. The covers (yes that’s right, there are two covers) are stunning. The editorials are amazing, and the clothes and accessories selection are fantastic. Ths issue of Vogue China definitely gets a thumbs up from me.

Rodarte

rodarte

Rodarte is my label of the season. Last season I was all about Alexander Wang. This season it’s all about Rodarte. Their dresses seem so whimsical, yet strong and confident at the same time. I love the chain detailing, and exoskeleton looks in the S/S09 collection. However F/W0809 remains my favorite collection from them. The tights, the shoes, the sheer pieces were fantastic. I loved it all, especially their use of the color red.

For those of you who are interested, there are some lovely photos on rodarte.net as well.

Inspiration # 5: Sexy Kitty Kat

Okay, so no not all these masks are kittens ones, but they’re all cute.

There seems to be a trend out there now of sexy girls wearing cat maskes. It’s cute and seductive, to be sexy but still let that innocence shine through.

To get the look without the mask, be sure to have nice pouty lips, a nice lip balm with a pale pink tone will do, and also a good hand with mascara and eyeliner. Be a bit messy with the eye make-up.

Thanks for all the comments!
